Our 40year old General Pediatrics Department is well known for care given to children suffering from broad spectrum of health issues, ranging from Chronic Diseases to Acute Diseases requiring post ICU management; from diagnosis & management of uncommon Metabolic Disorders to Complex Disease requiring Pediatric Surgical Care. Our General Pediatric Department has treated more than 2.5 lakh in-patients & have cared for more than 20 lakh out-patient visits since its inception.

Dr. R T Patil being the first Pediatrician in Bagalkot city led the establishment of Tertiary Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatology units in Bagalkot. After completing his MD (Pediatrics), he worked in J J Hospital Bombay for 1year and started Shanti Children's Hospital at Bagalkot in 1986. In 2011 started Shanti Hospital (100 bedded multispecialty hospital) at Bagalkot.
